We are soccer enthusiasts who noticed a gap in Canadian soccer. 11’s, 7’s and futsal are all incredible sports however after a trip to Cancun, Mexico we noticed that no soccer compares to 6-a-side Socca. We understood that players want a competitive environment and to feel like they are playing in professional leagues, even recreationally. We wanted to bring that experience to Canada and we are starting in Ottawa. Dmitri Akimov, Alex Foley, and Nebojsa Milosevic are the founders of Socca Canada and the license holders of Socca Canada through the International Socca Federation. We are the only organization in Canada that is able to provide amateur players with incredible opportunities to be able to compete at the highest level possible. Whether it's at club level where we have the ability to send amateur clubs to prestigious tournaments like the Socca Champions League, or at the National Level where we recruit players to represent our country on the biggest amateur stage against other nations. The possibilities are endless!
Socca is the perfect mix between futsal and 7’s. It allows players to engage in the tactics, skill sets, and required passing techniques of the way the game was meant to be played. This game develops all-around players on small-sided pitches where quick thinking and relying on your teammates is paramount.
Socca uses 5 players plus a keeper. The game is played on a 35m x 55m pitch and relies heavily on quick one-touch passes. The small field forces players to be involved and opens the door for many scoring opportunities (even from the keepers!).
The beautiful game of Socca is organized by the the International Socca Federation, a multi-national body known for hosting the world’s greatest small-sided football competitions. This includes an annual calendar of world championships, continental championships and champion’s league events in which Socca Canada and it's affiliated clubs have the exclusive rights to participate in!
